ABOUT THE ARTIST
As a contemporary artist, Maura’s abstract style combines both organic and geometric imagery that is both representative and fantasy. Her paintings and collage mixed-media focus on the interaction between colors and the energy and feeling they create while creating movement and flow.
She studied art education/graphic design under John Nartker where she gained an interest in incorporating texture into her work.
Maura is also a long-time quilter and began teaching quilting at Hancock Fabrics, Inc. where she developed a color-theory training course for beginning quilters that focused on the interplay between colors and the richness of combining and balancing textures and light and dark colors.
Her Fine Art works are currently displayed at Pendleton Arts Studio - Middletown, OH and have been displayed at Middletown Arts Center and Studio San Giuseppe (University of Mt. St. Joseph) and in an exhibit depicting non-violent protest and civil disobedience at Antioch University Midwest.
